Worthy nonprofits are always in “need” of additional funds.
No surprise there.
The open question is whether these organizations are READY to receive more funds?
Huh?
I’ll state right up front that there is an incredible well of untapped philanthropic wealth. Assets and cash that is ready and available to be invested in philanthropic endeavors.
IF. . . .
If your organization is having difficulty identifying and engaging philanthropic investors, it’s certainly NOT for lack of availability.
So, what is it?
Let’s face it: Most nonprofit organizations aren’t READY to receive these investments. Investors can smell this lack of readiness from a mile away.
This is the reason nonprofits struggle in fundraising.
So, what the hell is being “ready”?
Let’s unpack it.
It’s usually not because they lack the tools. In fact, more often it’s an over reliance or misuse of these tools. (CRM’s, prospect screening, digital marketing, SEO)
Second, it’s almost never due to a lack of a compelling case or reason to exist. You usually more often see communication or mis communication as the bogeyman.
There are, however, serious obstacles inside many (if not most) nonprofits which are seriously stunting their fundraising efforts before they ever start.
You think I’m kidding?
I was made aware last week that a billionaire (yes “b”) who is a known person in a small western community phoned a local social service nonprofit wanting to speak with the executive regarding a sizable gift. He was told that the ED would “get back” to him later this year after their “gala.”
A totally true incident. A colossal case of misplaced priorities.
The good news is that ALL these obstacles—whether in action or thought—are surmountable. No nonprofit need suffer from them.
Beginning mid-October, we’re conducting a series of (free) Board Room Briefings where I, along with other members of our team and nonprofit executives, will be unpacking what’s holding you back and showing you ways forward.
If you’d like to participate simply email me at info@TheEightPrinciples.com with the message “Sign Me Up.”
We’ll place you on a priority registration list when registration opens. Please note: There is limited space. If you’re interested, I wouldn’t delay.

We look forward to speaking with you.
